How New Yorkers Benefit from the Mobile ID App

New York State is recognizing the fact that it has been one full year since its launch of the Mobile ID app, which is currently utilized by nearly 250,000 state residents.

If you don’t know what a Mobile ID is, officials say it is a highly secure digital version of a state-issued driver license, learner permit or ID on a smartphone or tablet.

Designed for New Yorkers’ convenience and security, the MiD is available for free to IOS and Android users, and use is completely voluntary.

MiD is accepted at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoints at participating airports across the country, including all terminals at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse Hancock, and Stewart International airports, allowing New Yorkers to verify their identity easily and securely for airport security screening.

According to the Governor’s office, nearly 20 other states in the U.S. have launched a Mobile ID app and several more are in the process of developing one.
